Athletics and Football by Montague Shearman

| This is the world famous Badminton Library "Athletics and Football" by Montague Shearman.
This book is extremely rare and it is even less often found in such a good condition.
This amazing book was part of The Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes edited by His Grace The Duke of Beaufort with the assistance of Alfred E.T. Watson.
Although primarily a book about many different sports it is one of the earliest references to "The Rugby Union Game" and a whole chapter (40 pages) is dedicated to explaining the rules.
This great book also features a contribution on paper-chasing by W. Rye and an introduction by Sir Richard Webster. Dozens of sports engravings after Stanley Berkeley and instantaneous photographs by G. Mitchell are presented throughout!
This is the 4th edition, published in July, 1894 in London by Longmans, Green and Company. The book totals 464 pages in length.
Please note that 80% of the pages are lightly to moderately water stained along the page edges. This does not affect any of the text, which is still very clean and clear. The pages are also slightly warped from dampness many decades ago. There are no markings or tears in this great book, all pages are intact and tightly bound, and the elaborate cover and spine are in very good condition. Even though there is the page staining, this super RARE sports book is in great condition for its age and will certainly make for a splendid addition to any early sports collection!
This is an absolutely marvellous book and is one that many collectors will search years to find. Click Here For More Images

High Speed Rugby by E.S Higham and W.J Higham.
This book might very well have been entitled "Pity the Wings!". That is rally why it ever came to be written - out of sympathy for those lone raiders along the touchline, men of spirit and speed and perseverance, who have played the game for years, many of them, but have spent so much of their time as virtual spectators.
After all, attack through the wings not only benefits the wings, but is the very foundation of all attacking play, as this book demonstrates.
In fine condition for its age. Hard back book published in 1950. No dust jacket and 334 pages long.
